ADAM FIELD
Adam Field is a studio potter whose work seamlessly bridges contemporary design and traditional craftsmanship. Born and raised in Colorado, Adam earned his BA in art from Fort Lewis College before immersing himself in the vibrant art scene of the San Francisco Bay Area. His passion for ceramics led him to Maui, where he established a successful studio practice, and then to Icheon, South Korea, where he studied under 6th-generation Onggi master Kim Ill Maan, deepening his understanding of Korean pottery traditions.
Field’s dedication to sharing his craft is evident in projects like HIDE-N-SEEKAH, which he launched at the 2013 NCECA conference in Houston. After years maintaining a studio in Durango, Colorado, he moved to Helena, Montana, where he was a long-term resident artist at the Archie Bray Foundation for Ceramic Arts. Now based full-time in Helena, Adam creates functional pottery that can be found in private collections and kitchen cabinets worldwide.

Nature Tradition: Cultivating Inspirations in Clay
Open to all skill levels
In this two-day workshop Adam Field will demonstrate his methods for carving intricate pattern on a variety of wheel-thrown porcelain forms. From traditional
techniques, to innovative solutions for timeless problems, participants will develop a new perspective on creating and decorating functional pottery.
Participants will learn new skills for mapping out and carving geometric patterns and will have a hands-on opportunity to try out Field’s techniques and tools for
themselves. Generous discussions about studio practice, aesthetics, materials, ceramic history, and promotion and marketing strategies for the studio potter are
certain to encourage individual discovery, growth, and development of fresh ideas. Participants will gain the skills and confidence to create and decorate
work in their own voice.
